Anna Deyerling

The 2 Minute Interview

Anna Deyerling loves Sofas. So much that she decided to make them herself. And they are brilliant! The label Sitzfeldt, which she runs together with her brother Clemens Deyerling and a common friend Julius Martini, does not only produce wonderful creations such as the red dot award winning Cube sofa – which with good reason has found its way into our lounge – but is also something like the land of milk and honey for the spoilt big-city-backside. Sitzfeldt sofas are lovely AND comfortable. That actually is rather remarkable. ;-) Perfect conditions should you be pregnant and forced to lounge around aloooooooooot. Speaking of which – Anna is about to have baby number two. We wish her all the best! P.S. How DO they all manage?

What does your home look like?
I live in a typical Berlin flat that I constantly seem to be cleaning up.Is it exactly how you wanted it or did it just happen that way over the years?
I’d say it’s 2-1 in favour of fate.The perfect sofa is…
… the family’s favourite place and made by Sitzfeldt, of course. What is the greatest challenge being a single mom?
Having to decide everything on your own when it comes to parenting. And going through with those decisions.Do you live in the right city?
You bet!What makes you angry?
People not living up to their responsibilities.Close your eyes and think of something nice. What comes to mind?
Summer – minus the baby bump.

When was the last time you did something for someone else and what was it?
We recently equipped a refugee home with sofas. And yesterday, I baked a cake for the team.

And for yourself?
I just had a three-week holiday.

Do have a favourite poem?
I always like to get Mascha Kalékos „Das lyrische Stenogrammheft“ out from the bookshelf. But no, I don’t have afavourite poem. What throws you off balance?
My son.Which quirk would you gladly give up?
Having to write to-do lists for everything. Why can only women save the planet?
Is that the case? I thought we were a pretty good team. What would you cook for us if we visited you at home?
Pasta. And a big bowl of salad. What are you afraid of?
The silken thread of happiness eventually tearing.

When was the last time you did something for the first time and what was it?
Yes. Not drinking works too.

What should no one know about you?
Well, then it wouldn’t be a secret anymore.

Which question should we have asked?
How can you be a single mom and pregnant at the same time?

Last Words:
Something I always like to have.

Kiez Sofa

Have a seat, please!

Once upon a time in a little village along the river Rhine there was a little sofa. And on this little sofa sat the most glorious guests the neighbourhood had to offer. Each of them had a great story to tell and hooray, the whole neighbourhood was all ears. One of these guests was Simon Akstinat and he was so touched, thrilled and entertained by what he heard, that without further ado, he decided to import this concept to his new neighbourhood: Berlin Neukölln. The local talk show “Kiez Sofa”, hosted by Simon Akstinat and cofounder Nadine Kleifges, welcomes local guests from Neukölln (famous or not) to talk about their extraordinary life stories, because nothing is more exciting or pleasing than finding out more about the people who live just around the corner. Musicians, globetrotters, entrepreneurs, politicians and artists take a seat on the Kiez Sofa to spill the beans about their personal connection to Neukölln and everyday life there. There is no main topic, the only thing the guests have in common is calling Neukölln their home. Next Monday, Simon and Nadine will be talking to Neukölln-born TV-author and journalist Güner Balci, never shy to hit hot topics, the team behind “Auf halber Treppe”, who host a staircase coffee-klatsch to get neighbours networking, and Neukölln astrologist Roger Nikodemus. Number 4 on the sofa is a musician or an entrepreneur and definitely still a secret. Come to the Prachtwerk on Ganghofer Straße on February 23 to find out who it is. Grab a seat and enjoy!
