Gifts From The Soul

1986, Wham! gave away their heart for Christmas, 8 years later, Mariah Carey didn’t care for any presents and just wanted her sweetheart for Christmas. Today, we think a present or two is something lovely – be it to give or to keep. But gifts with soul, please. The fair fashion label FOLKDAYS from Berlin is setting up temporary shops with befriended brands and makers in the run up to the Holidays for fair and sustainable Christmas shopping. The counterpart to the thoughtless power-consumption during the heavy advent season. And there quite a few soulful names amongst them: The one-month-pop-up-store in the FOLKDAYS showroom will be housing fairness-favourites such as  Selo  with their refreshing soda made of coffee cherries, fabulous organic cosmetics from Und GretelConflict Food  with groceries from areas in crisis or the vegan condoms from einhorn Condoms.  So there will a lot more to shop than fashion and accessories and not only in Berlin. The B-Lage in Hamburg’s Kampstraße will be hosting the pop-up store with 14 different labels at the end of November and in the beginning of December, FOLKSDAYS is bringing the idea to Munich. And the best is yet to come: we’re giving away a shopping voucher worth 50 Euros for each of the locations to the particularly fair thinkers and givers amongst you. Send an email headlining ‚ALL I WANT FOR CHRISTMAS IS GOOD‘ and the city of your choice to

Watch out for valuables

Watch out for valuables

»Always be yourself. Unless you can be a unicorn. Then always be a unicorn«. It’s no secret that unicorns are the better version of people. So, of course, the unicorn Berlin is the perfect venue for Shop The Love – a 2-day pop-up shop all about fair trade products. Franziska Schmid, wholehearted yet not missionary vegan and founder of Veggie Love, initiated this just-before-Christmas shopping event featuring lovely eco, fair and compatible products. Franziska teamed up with Christina Wille, owner of vegan fashion store loveco in Friedrichshain, and together the both of them combine extensive knowledge of sustainable lifestyle and ecological fashion. And that’s exactly what you’ll be able to buy next week: fashion, cosmetics and accessories galore and Matcha-waffles and red smoothies to keep you going. Our favourite bathroom products by STOP THE WATER WHILE USING ME!, that we gladly use everyday and that remind us of how precious water is, will be on sale as well. And of course fresh vegan men care by Brooklyn Soap Company is a must here too. Mhhhmmh….all this stuff smells so good! And, although it goes without saying really, Veggie Love and loveco once again prove that eco can be stylish. After all, it was no one less than fashion icon Vivienne Westwood who suggested the following: »Buy less, choose well, make it last«.’Nuff said.

Knots of steel

Knots of steel

In cooperation with Industrial Berlin, the well-connected Berlin carpet label The Knots is opening a little pop-up store of its own. The shop at Kanya Berlin Project Space on Choriner Straße opens on Thursday at 7.30 pm to showcase puristic steel furniture and colourful hand crafted vintage rugs. All of the lovely products will be on sale for another two days after opening, so if you prefer shopping in peace and quiet instead of mingling with the crowds while sipping on some bubbly, feel free to do so on Friday and Saturday from 12 to 8 pm.

Dude’s Delight.

Dude’s Delight

„Brooklyn Soap Co. is having a pre-opening party. There will be good food to nosh on, drinks to get shwasted on, and some sick furniture from BoConcept to take fly selfies on. So come by, say „hi“, and have a toast with us.“ Well, we couldn’t have said it any better. Our friends from the Brooklyn Soap Company are opening their first pop-up shop — right smack in the middle of Hamburg facing the Alster harbour. The opening, er, pre-opening, will kick off at 6 p.m. with plenty of drinks, snacks and the whole shebang. The lads have already proven their knack for good design more than once: they won the Red Dot Design Award for product design and their stand at Vivaness was so beautiful it made you want to move right in. And now it’s time for their own place, if only temporarily. Those dapper dudes got BoConcept to style up their store and the walls are hung with pictures taken by celebrity photographer Thomas Heinze. Not bad! Hamburg and Brooklyn – this is where it all happens. Ladies and Gents, come on over and enjoy the party!
