Spiky little things

Forget rock ‘n’ roll, the Love Parade, parties and underground clubs. Plants and veggies are the new hip. First 20.000 hungry Berliners wanted to visit the little town of Beelitz to get a taste of the most delicious asparagus, then everybody (really, EVERYBODY) kept posting pictures of cherry blossoms, and now this: Tomorrow, the Berlin Cactus Days begin at the Botanische Garten in Dahlem. Whoohoo! There’ll be a huge exhibition showing 15 thematically arranged displays of African succulents (Aloe, Euphorbia, Haworthien, Askleps, Mesembs, Lithops, Conophyten), American Cacti, agaves and various seedlings. Dealers and interested buyers can choose from a one-of-a-kind range of cacti, succulents and other exotic plants, paraphernalia and specialized literature! #IAmFreakinOut! After all, how did someone recently put it via some social network: “The cactus is the new lavalamp! Just sayin’…” Yup, true story – 4,500 visitors have registered already. We’ll be there, too – watching out for those prickly little beasts!
